When it comes to kindergarten, many schools or institutes in the west provide different levels in kindergarten based on different needs of different students, but here in this blog post, we are going to share one syllabus that will be a fit for every Kindergartener.
Since you must be aware of our study approach, we will have the same approach with kindergarten as well. This course is divided into two halves and will be completed in one year’s time. Both halves are divided into Midterm and Final Term. You can evaluate your child’s performance and improvement by taking tests and biannual assessments.
If you wish to get some ready-made assessments for the syllabus shared by Gemini Home School, then worry not, we will soon be bringing assessments for each subject of each class which is a part of Gemini Home School. Stay in touch with us and let us build a successful future of your child.

Reading Syllabus For English (Midterm)
When a kid enters kindergarten, they are approximately five years old. If they have already followed our courses and guidelines for playgroup and Nursery, then by now your child must be recognized with alphabets, sight words, sounds of alphabets and reading of simple CVC words etc. We just have to increase their reading skills in KG and for that purpose books play an important role including the readers and reading activity worksheets. There are many books that you guys can try but just like always I will love for you to incorporate professional curriculum books, the best choice for you to go for will be the English syllabus from Oxford University Press. Almost all of their book’s series for English are great and I personally admire using their books with my school students and kids at my home as well. English book that I will advise for you parents or educationists will be First Steps To Early Years (Level 3) by Oxford University Press for Kindergarten students. When you will follow this book, you will realize that it contains information leading students to first rewrite alphabets, then revising the diagraphs and moving on to reading based on diagraphs. Students find it really easy to learn reading because it moves in small steps and students hardly feel like they are learning the major skill of reading which could have been difficult otherwise. After round about completing half of the book, come the chapters with proper reading material, and not only that, along with this book, I will recommend you guys to opt for readers or kids’ magazines, if possible, especially when you are homeschooling and belong to a country whose primary language is not English. This will help to reinforce the concepts taught during the English lecture. Now I will also recommend you to go through comprehension worksheets by Gemini Home School, and boost your child’s morale to read and solve them independently, by doing these comprehensions, they will be able to master their reading skills in no time. If you do not want to follow a curriculum book and want to know what your child should be doing in reading, then you must start them off with diagraphs and sight words and also revise the CVC words with concepts of phonetics (alphabets sounds). Then help them read single sentences and slowly move them to reading paragraphs and stories and with time they will start reading different passages from any book you will pick up based on their knowledge of sounds and diagraphs including sights words etc.Writing Syllabus For English (Midterm)
When it comes to writing, you should get your kids two copies. One will be titles as English A and the other one will be titled as English B.English A Copy Work
In the copy of English A, make your kids Write English alphabets on first three pages. On the very first page they will be writing the capital letters, on next page they will be writing small case letters and on the third page, both capital and small case letters. You may be thinking they already know it then why make them write again, then remember that for every preschooler, the revision of previous concepts at class level is always a necessary thing. Once they will be done, the next task for you will be to make them write At words, Un words & It words etc. on each individual four lined copy pages. My students love to read the CVC words with these words or sounds, whatever you would want to call it. After doing so, next step would be writing down names of five fruits, five colors and names of week days on three different pages. For each page your child should be able to write down the title, for example Capital Alphabets, Fruits’ Names etc. A margin line should be drawn where required and they should be writing down the date and day for the home work and class work of each day.English B Copy Work
In the copies of English B, your child or student will be penning down at least 15 singular and plurals, concept or vowels and nouns and they will also be writing down an essay of five lines about any topic of your choice. During midterm I prefer to make them write an essay on the topic “Myself”. I also like to add some worksheets related to nouns, verbs and vowels for my kindergartners in their midterm. These concepts are first written on their copies and then I add one or two worksheets for each concept which is solved by the kids themselves to reinforce the concepts. These kids will also learn and do working of the concepts, Use of “This & That”, Concept of Period & Question mark, Concept of capitalization of first word of sentence, Concept of capitalizing pronoun “I”, on their B copy for English. You will need to help them revise these concepts again and again from their copies so that they do not forget them if it has been done only once or twice. All the images of copy work of kindergarten students will be updated on Gemini Home School for you teachers and parents as a guide, so it will be very for you to understand how to help them do their copy work. Stay active on our website to find loads and loads of data that will make your and your child’s journey of preschool easier.Oral Syllabus For English (Midterm)
A kindergartener must be able to learn the spellings for many words like names of week days, their own names, five body parts’ names, names of at least five colors and they should also be able to learn an essay having 5 lines in their first term. They should be able to write down all the above-mentioned topics by their hands when given a written test or assessment. And they should also be able to tell it to you verbally when asked. You might be thinking how a kid can learn so much, but trust me they grasp the concepts really well and can remember more than one essay too if pushed to do it in a healthy way.Final Term Syllabus For Kindergarten
The English syllabus for kindergarten regarding the final term will also be divided in to three portions including reading, writing and oral learning. Divide it on a daily basis and teach your kids five days a week with two days off every week, but they will be learning their lessons on weekends for the Monday class or diaries.

Reading Syllabus For English (Final Term)
Reading syllabus for final term will not be much different than the midterm syllabus. Alongside revising the concepts of phonetics, diagraphs, CVC words and alphabets, these kids will start reading complex paragraphs and stories including sight words, and new vocabulary that they will learn. Along with this they will also practice reading worksheets and the teachers or parents should also keep the classes interesting by writing different sentences on the whiteboards and encouraging students to read them aloud one by one. This way you can introduce new vocabulary to your kids and not only that they will enjoy learning to read when they will be getting appreciated for it in front of whole class or by their parents if they are home schooling. In midterm the first half of the book should be completed, and in final term the kids will complete the remaining pages of the book along with copy work on copies of English A & English B. I will recommend t not skip the curriculum books for preschool kids especially for the kindergarteners.Writing Syllabus For English (Final Term)
Just like midterm copy work, kids will do some more work on both of their copies for the final term and they will be learning all the written work in their oral syllabus.English A Copy Work
Whilst in the midterm the kids did alphabets on copy work, including the At, Un and IT words, and also written down the names of fruits, days of week, body parts (Five each). In the final term they will write down the names of months, names of five vegetables and will learn how to convert words in to sentences. You can give the concept of sentences and then make them write at least ten very easy sentences that they must formulate themselves with your assistance and then they will learn these in their oral work. You will also add one or two comprehension paragraphs to their copies in the form of worksheets. Please consider them to be very simple sentences or paragraphs that contain the vocabulary they can digest and help them solve these independently. Rhyming word’ concept along with the worksheets will also be done on copy A for English.English B Copy Work
In English B, your kindergartners should learn prepositions, you should help them write down the definition on their copies with simple examples and then follow-up by sticking two or more worksheets related to prepositions and make them solve it themselves. You will also have them write at least ten or fifteen masculine and feminine with their concepts. We also add up one or two picture descriptions worksheets and then do have them write two more essays with five or ten lines. Now that they have already done one essay in their midterm, they know what an essay is and they might be able to write them easily or may be able to add two or more sentences by themselves. They will also learn the question words and solve different worksheets for each question word to grasp the concept strongly. You can choose the topics like my pet or my hobby and they will love to give inputs on it. With this our copy work for the final term has been done. And your kid has acquired almost every concept that they will be needing to know when they enter the grade one. One more thing that you can train them for is to write down their own diaries during the final term session, I usually write their diaries during midterm and then in final term, I mention the diaries on the whiteboard and they start writing it down. It takes hardly three weeks to one month and they catchup with the speed and start writing their own diaries independently. But I still do write it down on the whiteboard for them for the whole term.Oral Syllabus For English (Final Term)
In the oral syllabus the kids will be learning everything by themselves. All the copy work should be learnt and they should be able to write everything down in a final assessment. I take written exams from my kindergarteners and they do really well and most of the times they do exceptional work. The kids learn everything really well and with time and revisions done in class or at home on a daily basis, they master every concept and remember everything by heart.End Note
By the end of this whole year, your kid will have learnt to read and write their own copies and not just that they will also be able to write their own diaries independently Now you will be really happy to see that you can actually send your kid to grade one without any worries.
Kindergartners are no different that the students of Playgroup or Nursery. They are just one- or two-year senior to them, but still a part of Preschool. Hence, you must give them playtime and attention spans just like a 3- and 4-year-old student and still push them to do better than them to make their transformation into grade one really great and easy.Students that will go through the course provided above for Kindergarten’s English Syllabus, will find it really easy to start Primary school and they will not get shocked once they enter grade one, because they already have learnt how to write, speak and learn lesson plans on a daily basis.
