As the schools in countries that speak Urdu, have shifted their focus on becoming English medium schools, the approach towards Urdu language has become secondary, which in my view is totally wrong.

Since I love this language a lot, and being an educationist from many years, I have perfect Urdu Language Syllabus for Playgroup class, Nursery & even Kindergarten. This syllabus that will be covered in each class from Playgroup to Kindergarten will surely make your children love reading and writing Urdu.

They will become affluent with speaking in Urdu and in writing Urdu Language as well. By the time they will reach grade one or their primary school, they will have a perfect base that the new school, and new grade teacher can use to help them become more affluent in advanced Urdu Language.

Urdu Syllabus For Playgroup (Midterm)

All of my syllabuses will be covered biannually.  I divide my syllabus in two terms for the whole year and midterm constitutes the first term or a term which will be carried forward in first six months of the playgroup year.

Reading Syllabus For Urdu (Midterm)

Reading is more related to recognition in playgroup actually. Urdu language has 39 alphabets, known as Haruf-e-Tahajji in this language. Jut like English alphabets, kids need to learn these Haruf-e-Tahajji.

Your three to four years old will be getting to read many words related to the Urdu alphabet and its sound from a book of your choice. You will help them read the single letter, then share its sound and then read the vocabulary words related to the specific letter.

If you want me to suggest you guys a book, then my first priority for courses when it comes to preschool has always been the books from Oxford University Press. They have this book named “Kaliyaan (Pre-nursery K Liye)” or “کلیاں پری نسری کے لیے”.

This book has amazing vocabulary words, on each page the kid just does not get to learn words with the specific Harf or alphabet, but they also have beautiful pictures beginning with the letter sound that they can color which makes it more interesting.

The book also offers variety of writing, matching and selecting the right option plus beginners tracing lines patterns that make this book more than a perfect choice for the students of Playgroup. So this book will always be my first recommendation as an educationist.

You will help your child learn new words from this book and for the midterm you will complete around 60 – 62 pages which end with the Harf or letter “ض” or “ش”۔

Now these pages will have many activities as well, including tracing and moral stories for your children so worry not looking at the page count. And believe me your kid can do this within 5 months and sixth month can be used for revision and midterm exam or assessment.

If you cannot find this book, you can go for any book which has good vocabulary words for each Urdu Harf or Letter.

Writing Syllabus For Urdu (Midterm)

In playgroup, writing is all about tracing only. So your kid will trace the letters up to “ض” or “ش”۔ For the tracing activity you can either use a copy and put dotted lines for these letters yourself or you can download Gemini Home School’s Urdu Tracing Worksheets For Playgroup.

The playgroup children will also get to do various worksheets that will be the part of their workbook. In these activities or worksheets the playgroup student will select the right pictures matching the sounds of Urdu Haruf, coloring the mentioned Urdu Harf in the given pool of Urdu Haruf in circles or different shapes, matching similar Urdu Haruf, Matching pictures that begin with same Urdu Harf sound, Matching different pictures beginning with different sounds of Haruf with the multiple Urdu Haruf list provided in the worksheets etc.

Other than worksheets, I have specially designed workbooks for both midterm and final term of class playgroup, which you will be able to find on this website for free for sure.

Oral Syllabus For Urdu (Midterm)

When it comes to the Oral syllabus, your kid must have the recognition of all the letters “ا تا ض”. They should be able to point their finger at the right letter from three options when asked to show that specific letter.

Your kid should also be able to read these letters and their sounds out loud.

Another new activity that will be added in the Urdu syllabus will be helping your children or students verbally learn and sing three poems in Urdu language for both the terms, which makes it 6 poems in total for the whole year. If they love doing this then you can add as many as you want, if your student or child is active in learning additional poems.

I personally keep the number down to three for each term because some students are slow learners and they cannot pick up on the syllabus that a student with high IQ can. So my syllabus design will always opt for a balanced syllabus that can be followed by every child equally.

Urdu Syllabus For Playgroup (Final Term)

Final term is the second and last term of the year for playgroup class. This is where they will learn their final syllabus that will include the revision of midterm syllabus as well to very much extent.

Reading Syllabus For Urdu (Final Term)

Reading syllabus for playgroup is going to be very similar to the midterm syllabus of Urdu for playgroup.  The only different thing will be that your kid or student will be learning the new Haruf or Letters from “ط تا ے” or in English from letter “Toyei to Yey”.

But you will not just read these and recognize there Haruf-e-Tahajji for the final term syllabus of Urdu for playgroup, but you will also revise previous letters or Haruf taught in midterm “ا تا ض”, as the final term assessments will include the whole syllabus, so that the kids do not forget what they have learnt over the year.

If you want to know how many pages they will complete from the book “کلیاں پری نسری کے لیے”, then it is very simple to understand. They will start from the page next to page they ended their midterm syllabus with and complete the whole book and then revise it from page 1 rill the last page to read and revise all the syllabus from midterm till final term.

The whole procedure of teaching them to read and recognize these Haruf and their sounds and vocabulary words will be similar to that of midterm syllabus. So you can read it again to revise your approach for teaching the final term syllabus of Urdu for playgroup class.

Writing Syllabus For Urdu (Final Term)

In writing the kids will again use the worksheets or workbooks of Urdu tracing letters worksheets for playgroup or Urdu tracing letters workbook for playgroup.  These workbooks or worksheets will begin from the Haruf or letters “ط تا ے”.

But they will also have the revision pages where they will trace the letters  “ا تا ے” as well for the revision of all the letters that were taught in the midterm so that they do not forget anything before they enter nursery class where they will learn more complex Urdu syllabus which will again be easier when incorporated and taught with the approach we are going to bring for you all.

The methodology of teaching the writing syllabus is same as midterm; the only difference will be that the tracing activities will also include the activities for all the Urdu Haruf- e- Tahajji.

The children will also get to do various worksheets or workbook activities just like midterm, where they will select the right pictures matching the sounds of Urdu Haruf, coloring the mentioned Urdu Harf in the given pool of Urdu Haruf in circles or different shapes, matching similar Urdu Haruf, Matching pictures that begin with same Urdu Harf sound, Matching different pictures beginning with different sounds of Haruf with the multiple Urdu Haruf list provided in the worksheets etc.

Oral Syllabus For Urdu (Final Term)

Oral syllabus  and oral assessment activities will be same as of midterm; only thing is that the kids will need to learn all the Haruf-e-Tahajji and not just one’s that are the part of their final term. They should know the Haruf-e-Tahajji from “Alif to Yey”.

They will also learn three more Urdu poems that will be the part of their final year assessment before entering the Nursery class.
